Jackie’s Restaurant in Silver Spring, MD.

Ratings: 4 stars
Atmosphere: 4 stars
Food Type:  American
Customer Service: 5 stars
Food: 3.5 stars
Price: 3 stars

I really enjoyed my recent visit to Jackie’s Restaurant in Silver Spring, MD. I’ve been there once before - just for cocktails and appetizers, but was very excited when I heard about their Brunch.  The menu for Brunch is not buffet style and it’s quite limited, yet tasty.  I enjoyed the Guinness French toast with Jameson Anglaise and fresh fruit for around $10; portions are a bit skimpy, but not to a point of irritation.

During my initial visit, my first thought was, “Oh no, eating in a warehouse???”, but once inside I totally fell in love with the décor.  It’s playful, contemporary and simplistic all in one.  The bar and open kitchen is a unique layout, and even the bathroom is too cute to be ignored.  Our waitress was really sweet, very patient and attentive (which is truly rare with today’s customer service).
I was told that I have to go back for dinner and check-out the Amish chicken breast with white hominy grits, collards greens, onion rings and gravy – ummm, now you have to admit, that does sound yummy.  Until then, see ya round…but, stay tuned.

Patsy’s Nail Bar Day Spa

Ratings: 5 Stars
Atmosphere: 5 stars
Type: Day Spa
Customer Service: 5 stars
Price: 4 stars

Feeling a little worse for the wear?  Consider a trip to Patsy’s Nail Bar Day Spa.  Patsy has arranged for clients to have a respite from the hustle and bustle of the normal DC day.  Her spa, walking distance from Farragut West is modern, comfortable and clean. Its funky but bright interior immediately gets you into a smoother groove.  Once inside, Patsy immediately offers you water or tea, whichever you prefer and a healthy snack.

The equipment used for pedicures is (one use only).  As evidence, they actually send you away with the used disposable instruments.  My technician, Sarah, was skilled but gentle and forced relaxation from the soles of my feet to the top of my brain, which had been running a mile a minute until I reclined in the plush fully adjustable massage pedicure throne.

My pedicure was reasonably priced at $48.00. The prices go higher for more specialized pedicures but for the basic, you can’t go wrong here. Patsy’s requires a reservation secured by credit card.  You may pay cash upon service.  No in-convenience, no fuss, no muss, just happy feet!

BBB rates Beezid.com a "F"

One thing I hate is when a business (which is an outright scam) tries to take advantage of the public!!!  Of course in the case of Beezid.com, this is an obvious, "If it looks too good to be true, dah, dah, dah" situation.  Dear IOV Family, please (for oh so many reasons) ignore the commercials and keep your hard earned cash in your pockets.  Times are hard and we definitely do not have money to give away to an on-line rip-off site that clearly shows us we are being taken advantage of.  A close friend of mine continues to get burned on that site, but I can only guide a horse to the water…  With that said, if you decide to take your chances anyway, just know, we here at InOurView did our job by providing you with a gigantic heads-up!!!

Oh, and one last thing - here's what the Better Business Bureau has to say about Beezid.com:

"8407 Kitchen Bar", Silver Sring, MD

Ratings: 4.5 stars
Atmosphere: 5 stars
Food Type: Contemporary American
Customer Service: 4 stars
Food: 5 stars
Price: 4 stars

"8407 Kitchen Bar' is a cozy restaurant located in downtown Silver Spring. It is an excellent addition to the neighborhood. There is a lounge and bar on the lower level and the second floor is where you'll find the restaurant. The atmosphere is definitely grown and sexy! High back blue lounge sectionals and beautiful stone floors greet you on both the first and second floors. Beautiful wood beams and brick walls adorn the restaurant.

So let's get to what you really want to know...Our waiter provided EXCELLENT service, he was very attentive as well as knowledgable and made sure that we had whatever we needed. I must admit that the wait for the main course was a little bit longer than I would have liked it to be (bet. 15-20 mins).

The food was GREAT...For the appetizers we had mussels and fried oysters both dishes exceeded our expectations in presentation and preparation. Our choice for the entree's was the seared scallops and the lamb bolognaise. The scallop dish was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. As for the lamb bolognaise, it's a very simple dish but it was delicious!!!! Dessert consisted of creme brulee and a chocolate tart......SAVORY and DELECTABLE are the words that best describe them. We were pleased with the food, prices and the service...If you haven't visited "8407" yet, please do..We promise you won't be disappointed...Until then, good eating to you! :-)

Atmosphere: - 0 Stars (Stop calling this place a "Hole-in-the-wall" - that's a compliment).

I am sooooo disappointed with my visit to this “establishment” (I’m trying here - okay?)...  What in the world is all the hype about????  People, get real!!!!  Is this what we’ve reduced our standards to?  No one should be supporting a business such as this – they are definitely not ready. I could care less about how good the food taste; no one should have to spend that kind of money for a meal, and have to endure that type of service.  I am sick and tired of people starting up businesses without a drop of business education, sense or ethics.  This experience today has topped my charts of all-time worst service EVER – and NO!!!, the taste of the food does not change my opinion, because after several minutes of watching the handling of the food – my appetite was lost anyway!!!!!  I AM NOT A FAN…

Blair Mansion Inn, Silver Spring, MD

Rating: 5 Stars
Food Type: American/Traditional
Price: 4 Stars
Customer Service5 Stars (Exceptional)
Atmosphere: 5 Stars (Fun, Fun, Fun)

One of my most favorite get-a-way, lose my mind fun spots (within the hood) is Blair Mansion Inn's Mystery Dinner Theater in Silver Spring.  If you want to have a crazy good time, continuous – side cracking laughter, accompanied with an awesome meal all for one price - this is the place to go!!!  The staff is always friendly and welcoming, the mansion is mysteriously interesting, and the audience plays a key role in catching the killer…  This is definitely a great place to take a first date – it will help you to easily break those “first date” gitters.  Check it out, and trust me - it's to "Die" for!!!

Fire Station One - Silver Spring, MD

Rating: 3 Stars
Food Type: American/Traditional
Price: 3.5 Stars (Reasonable)
Customer Service2.5 Stars (Needs work)

Atmosphere: 3 Stars
Cool place to hang out after work or maybe to catch a game or two (a bit drafty, depending on where you're seated).  Food is ok at best, especially the wings and onion rings.  Drinks were just so, so.  The bartender(s) will have to kick it up a notch if they want to compete and last in a city like Silver Spring.  The wait service really needs work - the hostess seemed to be having a bad day, and the waitress gave my table the check without asking if we were finish ordering.  Nevertheless, I'm not going to bash the place and sincerely hope it does well and stay around a while.  I'm sure after time they will get it together and it will be a great place to hang out.  I think it's worth checking out...

OUTSTANDING - Southern Comfort

Customer Service: 3 Stars
(It seems as though they are still working out the kinks, but not bad)

Atmosphere:  2.5 Stars
The General Store definitely comes off like a "Dive", however, (and this is just my opinion) - I think it's by design.  It's a very small, clean, well kept little diner in the middle of nowhere in Silver Spring, Md - if you blink, you'll miss it. The decor seems to purposely place you in a down-home setting, to prepare you for the delicious meal to come.  The fried chicken is to die for and the collard greens, corn bread and mac and cheese would make you sell your first born for a second helping.  I will definitely look for this little place to do big things in the near future.  This is a must visit spot!!!

Very nice, cozy atmosphere. Great "creep spot" if you are with someone you're trying to impress, but are not supposed to be with, somewhere you're not suppose to be, and do not want to run into anyone who knows you (or whoever you're with) this is the spot.

IOV Translation:  "Creep spot" = A dark, cozy place to dine with someone besides your better half...
